SUMMER CHILDCARE PROVIDER

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Summer Childcare Provider will provide basic care with teaching responsibilities for 10 year old girl, 10 year old boy, 8 year old boy and 6 year old girl in order to give the children a well-balanced daily program in a home environment.  Must be able to provide a comfortable, safe, and non-threatening environment for children.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITES AND DUTIES:

  • Care of 4 children, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and 2 children Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:45 am to 5:15 pm Summer starting May 18th through August 16th.

  • Preparing, supervising and cleaning up after breakfast, lunch and snacks

  • Interact with the children in a way which conveys respect and nurturing

  • Support the social and emotional development of children

  • It will be the childcare provider’s responsibility to play with children, this will often mean getting down on the floor to interact with them

  • Organize and participate in recreational activities such as games, crafts, summer school work, reading, encouraging physical activities, etc.

  • Accompany and supervise children on outings to pool, library, movies, park, etc. include driving to locations

  • Following parents’ instructions for guidance and discipline of children

  • Assist in the cleaning and straightening of the children’s’ rooms at the end of the day as well as helping put away any outside equipment and toys

  • Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical and responsible

  • Maintain daily open communication with parents

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Minimum: High School Diploma

  • Preferred: Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education Major

Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of basic child care and feeding, as well as understanding of childhood development

  • Ability to work well with children and be patient with them

  • Ability to move and react quickly to a variety of circumstances

  • Must be a warm, patient, and gentle person who has a positive attitude towards children

  • Valid driver’s license and vehicle with no recent traffic violations

  • Child CPR and first aid certificate preferred

  • Good References

Salary and benefits:

  • $300 per week
