Fenton Silver Crest 11" Double Ruffled Bowl Candy Dish Vintage Pristine

Silver Crest is easily one of the loveliest patterns Fenton ever created. The line featured pieces rendered in classic milk glass with a rim of clear glass. The contrast was so perfect that the rim often looked like silver metal rather than clear glass. Many Silver Crest pieces have a ruffled or crimped rim. The ruffled rims are a riot of curls that encircle the rim. The crimped rims are more even and resemble crimped Christmas candy, but on a smaller scale.

This beautiful bowl features the double ruffled rim. It is in pristine condition with no chips, cracks or flea bites. The dish is approximately 3-1/2" tall; the upper diameter is 11-1/4", while the diameter across the base is 6-1/2". Prior to 1973 Fenton marked its pieces with various stick-on paper labels that usually wore away with cleaning and handling. After 1973 the Fenton mark was embossed on the glass, adding a numeral to mark the beginning of each new decade, starting with 1980. This piece is marked with the word "Fenton" in cursive surrounded by an oval, dating it after 1973, but before 1980.

After more than 100 years in business, Fenton closed its doors in 2011. You'll find pieces at auctions and estate sales, but the older Fenton pieces in pristine condition are already getting hard to find in some areas. This is a truly lovely piece that would thrill a collector.
