This position has a mixture of professional, clinical and administrative work in planning, directing, coordinating and evaluating all aspects of the Activity Therapy program, in order to fulfill the mission/vision of Larned State Hospital. This includes specialized programs in Recreation Therapy, Music Therapy, Creative Art Therapy, Library, Therapeutic Leisure, Work Therapy, Horticulture Therapy, and Cosmetology. The Therapy Services Supervisor must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide Activity Therapy services appropriate to the ages of patients served at Larned State Hospital, ages 18–85+. This position provides an environment conducive for overall program change in accordance with the guiding principles and practices Kansas Quality Management by exemplifying the personal characteristics of a Kansas Quality Management champion, questioning the status quo, display a positive change attitude, and providing a mechanism for change.
Minimum Qualifications as stated in the State of Kansas Class Specification
Seven years of experience in therapeutic recreation, horticulture therapy or one of the creative arts or therapy disciplines such as art, dance/ movement or music therapy. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.
