Faverolles originated in France in the late 1800’s.  They were known for their excellent meat qualities and as good winter layers.  They are a unique looking chicken.  They have beards and muffs; they have feathered feet and an extra toe. These pullets are very calm and gentle, very friendly, ideal for a backyard flock or around children.  They lay a medium sized, cream colored egg.  They do very well in cold weather and lay the majority of their eggs during the cooler months, being most productive when other chickens aren’t laying much.
