***UPDATE-I haven't ridden this mule since November 2015 when he earned a bronze medal in the ACTHA trail festival in MO. I rode him October 8 at the Gyp Hills mule and Donkey ride. Pulled him out of the pasture, he did great!! He makes me question selling him, if I do it's to a good home. I am not making any money off this mule-I paid this because it's cheaper than a big hospital bill like the ones we got from my son's accident or mine, on a horse. Since I bought him, he's gotten many miles, more skills and ribbons--he's gotten better. Probably an eight mile ride on all sorts of terrain, and he's sound.** Jake is a 17 yr old mule. He's about 14.1hh. This is one good mule-we bought him from Jones Gentle Saddle mules for our son about 5 years ago. Our son had been in a horse accident and wanted a mule or donkey. We ended up with Jake. They were buddies, but he's 17 now, a senior in high school, and no longer rides. No sense in this guy being a pasture pet when he has this many years left. We float teeth, worm and vaccinate. He is VERY low-maintenance. Has managed not to get caught in wire in the pasture or bitten by a rattlesnake-he's got good mule sense. Loads like a dream, great for the Farrier and even patiently puts up with baths. My son and I competed with him in ACTHA-competitive trail competitions-and earned a bronze medal-50 points. He has been hauled to MO,NE,AR and CO. Jake needs a rider that will make him do what they want, when they want or he'll get naughty. That being said, he is very safe and dependable. He will sell with his bit, possibly a bridle and breeching (not the one in these pics, but a newer one). He has also been ridden with a crupper. He keeps condition in the winter super-almost survives on air, and his hooves stay pretty good. Once he bonds with you, he's fairly friendly, but not an in your pocket animal for sure. Come try him in my arena or in our pasture. He will go up and down anything, through water crossings and trail obstacles. I taught him to sidepass and he's placed in trail classes in-hand also. He has also been ridden in parades and did fine.

I have ponied my draft off of him and ponied him off of my draft.  I am including a picture of him and my son and by my daughter where were on a competitive trail ride in  Colorado mountains.  A storm popped up, horses were going nuts, bucking folks off, there was lighting, thunder and hail.  Jake did great, and took care of my son.  Very calm.  Lives with cattle, a llama, three draft horses, donkeys and mules.  Gets along with all.
