Description

Gove County Medical Center, Gove County Health Department, Quinter Ambulance Service, Kansas Extension Agency – Golden Prairie District, and Farm Bureau Services will host a Family Farm Safety and Health Fair. The event will be held at the 4-H Fairgrounds  - 757 West 3rd Street in Grainfield, Kansas, on Saturday, March 25th from 9:00 – Noon.

The fair will feature speakers and demonstrations about electrical safety, grain bin safety, livestock safe practices, chemical safety, and tractor/PTO safety. The Quinter Ambulance Service will provide “Hands Only CPR” training.  Literature about poison safety will be available from the KU Poison Control Center.  We are pleased to welcome Kristi Ruth as one of our speakers. Her personal experience with PTO safety is very compelling.

There is something for everyone at the Family Farm Safety and Health Fair, and all members of the family are encouraged to attend. Farm Bureau Services will hold a farm safety poster contest for children. The ATV Safety Institute will conduct an ATV safety course for youth 11-16.

Farming is one of the most hazardous occupations, according to the Center for Disease Control. Farm related accidents and injury can have devastating lifelong effects.   Providing knowledge and preparation to help prevent injury and fatality is the goal of the Farm Safety and Health Fair.

Please come join us!   We will have door prizes and lunch will be served by local 4-H clubs.

This event is made possible through a grant from the University of Iowa - Great Plains Center for Agricultural Health.
