PLEASE SHARE: Cans 4 Kansas Honor Flights is coming to Ellsworth for the very 1st time Saturday March 25th from 9-4 at Gene's Heartland Foods. We just started our 7th year funding veterans. My goal for 2017 is 25 veterans. We COLLECT DONATED ALUMINUM CANS. The money from the aluminum cans goes to fund WWII, Korean and Vietnam Veterans on a Kansas Honor Flight. It takes $700 per veteran for a 3 day 2 night all expenses paid trip of a lifetime to Washington, D.C.. At the current rate of .55 per pound we receive as a group at Midwest Iron & Metal it takes 1,273 lbs. to fund one veteran. By the time I get to Ellsworth we should be officially at 5 WWII, Korean and Vietnam Veterans fully funded for a Kansas Honor Flight in 2017 and 67 since 2011.
