JOB SUMMARY & SKILLS NECESSARY: To plan, organize, supervise, coordinate and control the activities of the plant operations and maintenance functions which are necessary in maintaining the physical structures, HVAC, mechanical, electrical systems, utility systems and grounds of the hospital in an operative and safe working condition.  Maintains performance improvement activities within the department and participates in Quality activities.  Assures competency of maintenance personnel and assists in formulating budget.  Director shall maintain efficient and effective departmental operation while requiring compliance with all State, Federal and other regulatory laws, standards and protocols.

Minimum Education:    AD degree or equivalent from an accredited college or technical school.       

Minimum Experience:   Three (3) to five (5) years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Certification in one or more areas, such as HVAC, boiler-repair and/or maintenance, as well as a sound working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and natural gas.

Working conditions:  The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity.  The job is preformed under minimal temperature variations and some hazardous conditions.
