It has been said that the only guarantees in life are death and taxes.  Of these two, the first is a certainty for everyone on earth.  All of us face the fact that we will die, and yet, there is still hope.

This Wednesday, February 14, I am inviting you to come and observe Ash Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church in Norton, Kansas.  Ash Wednesday is a time when many Christians confront their death and sin with the hope given to us by Jesus Christ whose life, death and resurrection has paved the way to eternal life.  Many Christians observe Ash Wednesday by receiving ashes in the shape of the cross on their forheads or hands.  I will be offering the ashes this Wednesday for anyone who comes to the church between 6AM - 8 AM, 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM and at our Ash Wednesday Worship Service at 7 PM.  I hope to see you there. - Pastor Larry Danforth
