POSITION DESCRIPTION: Forsyth Library seeks an enthusiastic, motivated and service-focused professional to plan, coordinate and support the library's outreach activities and special events. The Library Outreach Specialist identifies, coordinates and performs library outreach opportunities while serving as a liaison from the library to campus outreach events within the University and in the Hays community.

The Library Specialist reports to the Instruction and Outreach Librarian and will help create a compelling public face and design consistent branding for the library through print marketing (posters, brochures, etc.) and digital marketing platforms (website, social media, etc.). The Library Specialist will help develop an ongoing marketing and publicity plan for the library focused on building awareness and increasing use of library services. This position will oversee all library social media accounts, co-manage and update the content of the library website, coordinate exhibits and displays, and help plan, publicize, and evaluate library events and services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Communications, Marketing, or related discipline.
· Experience using social media for an organization.
· Experience developing content for websites.
· Exemplary communication skills based on application documents.
· Experience managing projects and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Experience in an academic library.
· Experience using graphic design programs to create marketing/publicity materials.
· Knowledge and/or experience creating press-ready files for sending to professional printing.
· Experience planning and executing events or programming.
· Advanced skills in web design and/or web development.
· Experience with photography and/or videography.
· Ability to solve practical problems in a creative fashion.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Assist Instruction and Outreach Librarian with library outreach to on-campus and distance students, faculty, and staff using social media, email marketing, and printed materials.
· Design print and digital marketing materials using Adobe Creative Suite or similar graphic design software.
· Send press-ready files to printer and communicate about printing specifications.
· Coordinate and promote an annual exhibit and display calendar that features library collections and services.
· Organize, promote, and implement library events sponsored by the library
· Assist with planning and implementing communications and events for donors and alumni and assist with donor and alumni relations.
· Update, manage, and promote the library's social media platforms to engage audiences and increase awareness.
· Edit and update content on library website as needed.
· Document library events and news with photos and videos.
· Assist with developing and maintaining library signage, wayfinding, and finding aids for materials.
· Monitor an annual budget for programs, publications, exhibitions and marketing.
· Other duties as assigned in support of outreach and instruction (surveys, proctoring, etc.)
