Description

The Craft Basket is gearing up to celebrate their 31st year and is looking for new members. The Craft Basket is a cooperative craft shop that operates in the Alton Community Room during the months of November & December.  It was started in the 1980’s to provide a selling place for local crafter without the hassles of attending various craft shows.  It also serves the community by providing a nearby source of holiday gifts and food items.

The Alton PRIDE organization initiated the shop, and provides the room for the shop free of charge.  The City of Alton pays for the electricity and part of the heating bills.  All other fees and expenses, such as advertising are covered through a nominal charge to each participant.  In order for the shop to work, each member is asked to contribute some time and effort to making it a success.

Membership is open to anyone who is willing  to pay the annual membership fee of $20, serves on at least one committee and is willing to work at least two four hour shifts in the shop.  Members receive 100% of all of their sales- no commission is charge.  All items offered for sale must be hand-made by the person selling them.  No second-hand items are accepted.
