USD 489 seeks a Business Manager (MBA) required with management experience. As a key member of the senior management team, the Director will report directly to the Superintendent and be responsible for providing overall management and leadership in the areas of accounting and finance, financial analysis and reporting, preparing the district’s budget, providing timely budget analysis, overseeing Human Resources management, facilitating and developing strategic planning, and administration of all facilities and operations, to specifically include Nutrition Director, Transportation Director, Technology Coordinator, Maintenance Coordinator, Payroll Coordinator, Accounting Coordinator, and Human Resources Coordinator.

Key Responsibilities:
Financial oversight of the District to facilitate efficient operation through financialanalysis and effective communication with the Superintendent and Board of Education.
Responsible for planning and directing the District’s reporting function and workingclosely with auditors.
Develops internal management reporting, including cost-center analysis, cost-benefitanalysis where appropriate, and presents findings and recommendations to theSuperintendent and Board.
Designs and coordinates a wide variety of accounting and statistical data and reports.
Ensures that all effective controls are in place.
Responsible for the budgeting, budget analysis, forecasting and monitoring activities forthe District.
Oversees Human Resource functions of the District including the recruiting, hiring,training, supervising and evaluating all classified staff personnel.
Evaluates and coordinates all benefits negotiations to provide the most competitivepackages for District employees. Investigates cost-effective benefit plans and otherfringe benefits which the District may offer employees with the goal of attracting andretaining qualified individuals.
Facilitates and coordinates strategic planning processes, introduction and implementationof new programs, strategies, policies, standards and controls.
Works with all principals and division/department heads to provide senior level financialand strategic support.
Identifies areas for improving both manual and automated processes within the District toreduce costs and optimize labor and asset effectiveness.
Oversees the use of technology within the District to ensure that it is utilized effectivelyto improve processes and provide scalability for future growth.
Oversees all purchasing and payroll activities for the District.
Serves as a key member of the negotiations and labor management team for HNEA andSEIU negotiations.
Supervises capital asset inventory.
Handles risk management for the District.
Provides overall supervision of the District’s investment program.
Monitors the financial administration of federally funded programs and serves asprograms representative except for Title I and Nutrition Services.
Serves as the District Emergency Management coordinator for the Kansas Center for Safeand Prepared Schools (KCSPS).
Serves as the School District Administrative Claiming (SDAC) District levelAdministrator for Medicaid reimbursement.
Serves as Hearing Officer for free and reduced meal application appeals.
Attends regular and special meetings of the Board as requested or directed.
Performs any and all other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.

Job Qualifications and Requirements:
Experience in Public School Leadership capacity preferred but not required. Five years progressively responsible management for complex organization.Extensive experience in the areas of financial reporting and analyses.Ability to analyze monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements. Extensive experience in preparing various reports which appraise, interpret and communicate the financial results and status of the District against budgets and objectives.Has initiated prepared and implemented standard accounting practices and has had controllership responsibilities.Ability to establish collaborative partnerships and influence results across organizations.Demonstrates an in-depth understanding of accounting principles and its link to business strategy and results.Knowledge of the project management process.Skill at facilitating resolution of internal issues in a timely manner and thriving in periods of intense activity.Superior verbal and written communication skills; confident in making presentations to all levels.Solid management acumen and an appreciation for operations; adaptable to a changing external environment.Ability to obtain, organize and analyze large amounts of data; strong analytical skills.Proven critical thinking skills.

Salary $70,000-$90,000 per year
Benefits commensurate with position
