Summary

Maintain the rig.  Assemble or repair oil field equipment using hand and power tools.  Perform general physical activities according to approved safety processes and procedures.  Perform other tasks as needed.

 

Essential Functions

  • Perform General Physical Activities – Perform physical activities that require considerable use of the arms and legs and moving the entire body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.  Move pipes to and from trucks using motorized lifts or by hand.  Unscrew or tighten pipes, casing, tubing, and pump rods, using hand and power wenches and tongs.  Latch elevators onto the pipe.
  • Rig Setup and Maintenance – Take rig down, move and setup rig at new location.  Pick up and lay down tubing and drill collars, make connections and trips, apply nudope, clean and service rig. 
  • Repair and Maintain Mechanical Equipment – Service, repair, adjust, and test rig equipment.  Dismantle and repair oil field machinery using hand tools and power tools.
  • Safety Training and Implementation – Perform duties according to approved processes and utilize required safety equipment and protection.  Complete job specific required safety training.

 

Other Functions

  • Keep rig floor clean and free of clutter.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Mechanical – Knowledge of well servicing components, their uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Safety – Knowledge of applicable safety regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Equipment Maintenance – Performing routine maintenance on equipment.
  • Repairing – Repairing machines or systems using the needed tools.
  • Coordination – Adjusting actions in relation to others’ actions.
  • Operation Monitoring – Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
  • Equipment Selection – Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
  • Team Work – ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Static Strength – The ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects up to 100 pounds.
  • Safety – ability to learn and apply safety procedures and look out for other crew members.
  • Self Control – Maintaining composure, keeping emotions in check, controlling anger, and avoiding aggressive behavior, even in very difficult situations.

 

Education

Prefer High School Diploma or GED.

 

Work Experience

Prefer some previous work-related skill, knowledge or experience. Clean driving record required.
