MAINTENANCE WORKER

The City of Hays is accepting applications to fill various maintenance positions throughout the City. Positions include Streets/Airport, Parks, and Solid Waste. Duties involve manual labor, equipment operations, snow removal, and minor construction projects. Specialized duties dependent on department may include concrete, street and alley maintenance; turf, tree and landscape maintenance; and collecting and processing recyclable materials and special collection items.

Working days include Monday-Friday.  These positions may be required to work a flexible work schedule as needed.

REQUIREMENTS

Valid driver’s license required.  Paid on-the-job training for the right candidate. A good working knowledge of general construction, ability to operate a variety of equipment, working knowledge of concrete, asphalt, plumbing, turf, tree or landscape maintenance preferred but not required.

Exposure to hazardous chemicals, machinery, excessive noise and all types of weather conditions is expected. All positions require a CDL Class B within 6 months of employment.  Residency requirement is a 40-minute response time.

COMPENSATION

Starting wage $13.00 with room for advancement to a Maintenance Worker II and Senior Maintenance Worker position.
