Colby Community College is seeking an experienced retail management candidate for the position of Campus Bookstore Manager. The manager is expected to maintain a positive and professional bookstore environment as well as the relationship with Colby Community College students, faculty, staff, and administration.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The store manager will be responsible for all day-to-day activities within the bookstore including, but not limited to:

  • Interacting with students and communicating with faculty and staff.
  • Opening and closing duties.
  • Marketing plan implementation.
  • Ordering needed soft goods, apparel, gift merchandise and supplies.
  • Inventory management.
  • Daily accounting, completing transactions, distributing student book orders and collecting student rentals.
  • Hiring and training all on-site personnel including student hourly or federal work studies.
  • Other duties as assigned.  

The bookstore manager will be evaluated on multiple aspects of performance; however, the greatest emphasis is placed on acquiring skills pertinent to campus store management, supervision of employees, and acquiring product and industry knowledge.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will experience a variety of physical demands:  standing for long periods of time, lifting/moving boxes of various weights, emptying boxes, reaching for boxes/inventory on shelving of different levels, cleaning windows and doors, dusting, vacuuming, walking around the store and to other offices and buildings, and sitting for deskwork.

TRAVEL
Little to no travel is expected for this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate degree required; bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to CCC’s vision.
  • Retail or management experience preferred.

SALARY
$30,000 – $35,000, depending on experience.

Flexible benefits program, which includes options for single and family health and dental coverage, life insurance, reimbursement accounts, sick leave, and vacation leave allowances. Participation in state retirement program required.
