Colby Community College is accepting applications for a full-time Mailroom Supervisor.

The Mailroom Supervisor is responsible for all day-to-day CCC Mailroom activities and operational matters.  The Mailroom Supervisor reports to the Vice President of Business Affairs.

This position is 50% time during the summer months. Expected hours are 8 a.m. until noon Monday thru Friday.  During the academic school year, this position is a full-time position where 3/4 of the time will be spent in the Mailroom and 1/4 of the time spent assisting with the Trojan Trading Post.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Mail Services
  • Receive campus mail, regular mail, UPS, Fed Ex, Airborne Express, Priority Mail, Postal
  • Express, Insured Mail, registered mail and other special deliveries (such as flowers, etc).
  • Distribute all mail and packages, including those for staff.
  • Arrange outgoing mail, forwarded and returned mail, and returned packages for pick-up.
  • Forward and redirect misdirected mail using a computer system. Use of common sense to decipher misspelled names, nicknames and incomplete addresses is expected. Cross out old addresses and forward mail or return to sender.
  • Process mail based on different types: 1st Class, Bulk Rate, Periodicals, Campus Mail, etc. Handle postage due items.
  • Retrieve packages for residents.
  • Answers residents' inquiries and respond to their concerns about mail.
  • Check and distribute second notice package slips for parcels that have not been picked up in two weeks.
  • Call residents who received perishable and special packages such as flowers, balloons, very large or numerous packages, etc.
  • Secure mail room each time it is left unattended. Make sure all packages and mail bins are secured inside the mailroom. Turn off all electronic equipment.

The Bookstore Associate serves as a support position for the Bookstore Manager.

Responsibilities 

  • Promotes friendly customer service and bookstore atmosphere
  • Assists with processing of textbooks, non-texts, imprinted apparel and other items, gifts, school supplies and candy as directed by the Bookstore Manager
  • Operates cash register and assists with bookstore sales and service
  • Assists with supervision of bookstore student workers
  • Assists with UPS receipts and shipping
  • Assists with processing and shipping of student online orders
  • Maintains strict confidentiality for all information to which the bookstore associate may be privy
  • Effectively communicates with, cooperates with and supports other college personnel in daily activities;
  • Fulfills other duties as assigned by supervisor and /or college administrators;
  • Represents the College in a professional manner as evidenced by dress, demeanor and the discharge of daily responsibilities, in keeping with the mission of the institution;
  • Assumes responsibility for promoting, supporting and facilitating student learning.

SALARY

$11.50 to $13.50 an hour depending on experience.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required: High School diploma and three (3) years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred: Associate degree and knowledge of mail software.

Highly desirable: Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to CCC’s vision.
