Description of Director of Nursing
Sheridan County Health Complex, (SCHC) has an immediate need for a Director of Nursing, in Hoxie, KS. This is an excellent opportunity to directly impact the quality of patient care at SCHC’s Long Term Care department.

Situated in North West Kansas, SCHC is a full service long and short term care facility, servicing residents with a wide range of care needs.

The Director of Nursing plans, organizes, develops, and directs the overall operation of our Long Term Care Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations that govern our facility.


Responsibilities:

  • Develops, implements, and maintains the ongoing Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement program based on clinical indicators, SCHC monthly quality indicator report, and identified issues/problems
  • Develops short and long-term plans for the LTC Department that are compatible with those of the facility
  • Functions as a role model in care delivery and provides high level of current, research based, clinical expertise, and advanced clinical decisions
  • Assumes the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability of directing the activities and programs of the facility in the absence of the Administrator
  • Selects appropriate skill levels and numbers of nursing service personnel
  • Oversee adequate number of staff for each shift to ensure that quality care is maintained
  • Provides complaint/grievance reports to the Administrator as required
  • Reviews and evaluates the work performance of nursing staff as well as counsels/disciplines personnel according to established policy
  • Makes daily rounds to ensure that all nursing service personnel are performing their work assignments
  • Works with the Administrator to develop, allocate, and control the budget
  • Analyzes and evaluates nursing and related services rendered to improve quality of care and to best utilize staff time and abilities
  • Develops, maintains, and periodically updates written policies and procedures that govern the day-to-day functions of the LTC Department and defines the nursing service objectives and philosophies
  • Makes written and oral reports/recommendations to the Administrator as necessary/required, concerning the operation of the Nursing Service Department
  • Develops methods for coordinator of nursing services with other resident services to ensure the continuity of the resident's total regimen of care

Requirements:

  • Must have a Associate's Degree in Nursing
  • KS Registered Nurse License (or ability to obtain)
  • Minimum of 3 years Supervisory experience in a hospital, skilled nursing care facility, or other related medical facility
  • Must have 3 years clinical nursing experience

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's of Science in Nursing is preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years clinical experience in LTC or a skilled nursing facility is preferred
