Description

The Kansas Department of Transportation is looking for dependable, trainable, team players with good communication skills to become part of our family. KDOT is currently hiring an Equipment Operator Trainee (UNCLASS) position in Wakeeney. Position is eligible for promotion to an Equipment Operator with completion of 3 months experience and completion of training program.

  Position duties & responsibilities: Maintain highways & facilities through activities such as repairs, resurfacing, mowing & snow & ice control.  Operate dump trucks, small & medium-size loaders, mowers, tractor, rollers & power brooms to perform various maintenance tasks.  Operate a loader or truck-mounted plow & spreader in snow & ice control operations.  Perform manual labor associated with maintenance activities, including the operation of miscellaneous equipment such as chain saws, weed eaters, pumps, compressors, jackhammers, generators, power tools & various hand tools.  Setup & remove temporary traffic control & serve as flag person for maintenance work zones.

This position is subject to pre-employment physical testing.   The selected candidate will be required to pass the screening as a condition of employment in this position.

On-the-job training is provided to obtain a CDL within sixty days. Valid unrestricted driver’s license is required at the time of hire.

Starting pay is $12.98/hour.
