The Director of Nursing provides clinical nursing leadership and oversight for the long-term care, assisted living and sub-acute rehabilitation neighborhoods. The Director of Nursing plans, organizes, directs and facilitates the clinical operations of all neighborhoods to ensure regulatory compliance while nurturing a culture of person-centered and resident directed care. Additionally, the Director of Nursing promotes individual and team learning. Must hold a current RN license in good standing

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Participates fully in the Health Services Team, providing clinical leadership and supportive functions to Health Services colleagues, and contributing to the regulatory and fiscal viability of WCCCC Ensures that the day-to-day clinical functions of the licensed areas are met in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations to assure that the highest degree of quality care can be provided to our residents at all times.

Offers expertise and guidance as needed and requested, to all nursing staff.

Maintains cooperative relationships with regulatory officials, media representatives and local organizations.

Keeps abreast of current state and federal regulations, as well as professional standards and makes recommendations for incorporation into policy and procedure
Assures that resident rights and responsibilities are honored and met, including the right to refuse or individualize treatment, and monitors the community and neighborhood response to resident concerns through continuous quality improvement
Recruits, hires, trains, and evaluates a sufficient number of well-qualified staff to assure that resident care needs can be consistently met 24-hours each day 7 days a week.

Assists with conducting orientation, training sessions, and meetings, as necessary, to meet the resident’s needs. Responsible for the monthly nursing meetings and assist with coordination of the yearly educational requirements according to federal/state regulations

Makes rounds and observes the care being provided to assure that all staff is providing care in conformance to applicable regulations. Is responsible for providing oversight of the fall prevention, skin prevention, anti-coagulant and wound care protocols, and the Restorative Nursing Program.

Is responsible for the survey process working closely with the Administrator
Follow up on family concerns and grievances.

Follow up with staff concerns and issues addressing them in a timely manner
Walking rounds in all areas to assure that the facility remains in state compliance

Clinical Skills: Clinical skills sufficient to meet all the primary responsibilities identified above; meets state licensing and all other appropriate regulations for position, as well as organization’s expectations of position clinically (direct nursing, teaching, supervision, organizational oversight).
