This vintage Zenith FARM Radio was manufactured in 1939. Over 80 years ago. It may have been used in a rural farm. It was designed to be operated by battery. This was before the REA came to most rural areas. At some point, probably by a farmer, it was converted (rather crudely) to operate on AC. Also, sometime in its past, something burned the top.
I have completely restored the radio. I have replaced the old components inside, and fixed the crude conversion. I also sanded down and refinished the cabinet. The burn on top would have taken extensive wood replacement, so I left it. I think it adds character to it. I also made a back for it to keep fingers out of where they could receive a shock. I like to think some farmer had this in their barn while milking cows.
The radio needs an antenna to pick up stations. A wire attached to a metal window frame should work. Contact me if you have any questions.
See the video of it in operation in the description.
