QUALIFICATIONS: Must have a high school diploma or equivalency. Selected candidate must have a completed certificate of health and satisfactory background check before first day of employment.

HOURS: 7+ hours per day, Monday through Friday, on days that school is in session

STARTING SALARY: $13.23 per hour

Job Definition: Communicate with base kitchen. Maintain daily operations at satellite kitchen.

General Duties

1. Organize and supervise the day-to-day operations of onsite kitchen. 2. Assign duties to staff as needed. 3. Plan menus or portions of menus when necessary. 4. Is responsible for recording food costs. 5. Maintain state forms and menu planning books. 6. Maintain perpetual inventory and compile monthly inventory. 7. Order produce weekly and compile bid orders as required. 8. Place yearly large and small equipment orders and maintenance check requirements. 9. Attend monthly cook manager meetings. 10. Participate in yearly staff evaluations. 11. Work with school staff on special activities, sometimes non-school hours. 12. May work with day care or after school care programs. 13. Work with Director of Nutrition Services.

Requirements

1. Must be able to read, write and communicate in English. 2. Must be able to delegate work to assistants and work with them. 3. Must have the capacity to grasp and adjust to new and changing situations and make decisions. 4. The ability to work under pressure is desirable. 5. Must have good communication and organization skills. 6. Ability to learn computer applications for kitchen functions. 7. Ability to lift objects of 25 pounds. 8. Must be neat in appearance, clean, have good personal hygiene habits. 9. Must wear appropriate clothing, hairnet and comfortable appropriate shoes. 10. A health certificate is required stating healthy status and TB test or chest x-ray.

Working Conditions

1. Number of hours and days are specified in work agreement. Monday through Friday except for school holidays. Exceptions are stated in school calendar. 2. Nine month per year. 3. Kitchen is well lighted, ventilated, and comfortable (although it may be hot in late August and late May). 4. Much standing on feet required and some lifting.

Supervision

1. Responsible to Director of Nutrition Services.

Personal Requirements

1. High School graduation or GED. 2. Prior experience is preferred but not required 3. References required.
