Norton County Hospital has a new career opportunity for a Grant Coordinator. This part time position is funded by the Blue Cross Blue Shield Pathways to a Healthy Kansas program, which is aimed at improving healthy lifestyles and creating healthy places using a community-wide approach. Norton County was selected as one of the designated Pathways communities, which will allow for the creation and enhancement of community health projects. There is potential for this position to become full time in the future with the addition of assisting with grant projects specifically related to the Norton County Hospital.

Primary responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Actively connect with key stakeholders, coalition members and members of the community to engage them in the decision-making process for any grant package work.
  • Garner commitment of key policymakers, business leaders, health and human service organizations, schools, and civic leaders when implementing Pathways packages.
  • Develop community activities that have a public, active role for key leaders.
  • Complete and maintain documentation for action and evaluation plans, as well as annual progress reports, regarding the grant projects. Keep track of receipts and all necessary records.
  • Participate in technical assistance and learning opportunities associated with Pathways to a Healthy Kansas. Technical assistance and learning opportunities will include conference calls, webinars and in-person opportunities. Presenters, topics and discussion will focus on the community Pathways; coalition and partnership development; evaluation; policy, system and environmental changes; and other areas determined of interest or need.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in Business, Communications or related field preferred.
  • Preferred past experience working on grants.
  • Preferred past experience working in a hospital or health-related setting.
  • Detail-oriented and skilled in organization, problem solving, budgeting and monitoring.
  • Skilled at establishing and maintaining relationships with staff, boards, the coalition and community members.
