Description

It is with a heavy heart that i am offering my bull for sale. i have kept all but 2 heifers out of this bull and now need some different genetics. The other 2 are i sold as replacement heifers to other breeders (they were solid and i like color). The calves make fantasic ropers!!!!! I can't produce the demand numbers of all the people that want them, they sell very fast!!

His name is "Blue Balls". He is a beautiful true blue roan, salt & pepper look, a very desirable color!! With white/black nice looking, pretty horns. He is conformational bred correct, sound, and healthy. He is a 2008 model (6 yr. old) purebred corrientte bull. He comes from a reg. breeder/stock but we never got papers. I bought a guys whole herd out like 4 yrs ago including Blue Balls. He had bought Blue Balls as a virgin yearling from the breeder. The cows he has been with have been virgins and/or bangsed. I have got him semen tested every year in the fall and every year he tests excellent (fall 2014 test in pic) including this year. He has covered 100% of his cowe every year also. Calving isn't drug out he covers his cows in a timely matter. 100% of the calves every year has been by natural birth with out any assistance. His calves have ranged from 25-67 lbs........most of the time they are in the 50-60's. The one 25 lbs was out of a heifer. He is breeding loud colored cows that weigh about 1200-1500. The first year i bought him i used him on virgin yearling heifers. He produces about 50% loud color and 50% solids (reds & blacks) when crossed with my loud colored cows. Corrientte's are known to have a longer longevity and libido, i have friends that are still breeding there horned bulls at 15-20 yrs old and getting 100% calf crop. its all in how you take care of the bull, and he has been taken care of having straw and a barn in the winter. Worked and cared for like any of my reg. angus.

He is penned in the off season with my other 2 longhorn bulls and gets along with them fine, he has also been pastured with some of my angus bulls and got along with out any problems. If he knows the other bulls he gets along just fine with them. If he doesn't he will fight, just to be honest.

I am now a 31 yr old experienced cattle women and as i said have owned him for about 4 yrs now. I don't have any problems moving or handling him by myself, but to be honest he has horns and is a bull, so i don't ever turn my back or let my guard down when handling him. He does respect what a stick in your hand means, eventhough I NEVER hit him or handled him ruff or fast paced, just wave the stick and kiss, keeping everything calm and quite (easy and gentle), and i get along just fine. He is VERY smart and most of the time knows what you want just by asking once. Previous owner was a mid-aged man and feed him cubs from his hand. I work him by myself most of the time. Occacionally i use my dogs, or a horse, or have another person. He is use to 4-wheelers, trucks, and tractors to be moved pasture to pasture as well.

Probably 90% of the year he is in dry lot gets feed alfalfa, CRP, and brome big round bales 24/7 free choice. A 30% lick tub (fly lick in summer, regular in winter), and a loose mix of salt/iodine/mineral. The other small time he is out on stocks or in pasture. Previous owner ran him in hotwire. I run him in paneled lots or barbwire.

When I bought him; I tattooed him, tags, and gave shots: 8-way black leg, viro sheild 6, vibro, pumaguard, pink eye. He is given either dexyomax or cydectin about every 3-4 months. So he is good to go. Along with being 2014 semen tested excellent, and was trich tested clean and clear.

Measurements from 2014: Weight 1450 lbs.        Scrotal 33 1/2          Hip Height 54 inches      Pelvic 14 wide x 15 1/2 tall       Tip-to-tip 27 1/2 inches      Total horn 45 inches

I called a few different sale barns seems the going price for bulls now is $1.60 per pound. So i am asking just a hair over that for him to be a breeder and to help with the cost of his current vet work.

$1.60 x 1450 = $2,320  i'm asking $2,550 for him. They say cattle are going to increase come the end/new year. Blue Balls calves are well saught after from the sorters and ropers, even for replacement breeding stock. My buyers are very upset with me over telling them i was going to be offering him for sale, and to go more reg. longhorn now. His calves sold at 4-6 months of age and sold fast!! For a good price. He would cross well on anyones horned herd or beef herd. He should produce mostly solids if crossed on beef cows to raise good sale barn calves.

I'm not looking forward to this sale, i want him to find a home with a breeder. If not sold by Nov. i will probably pen him seperate and still breed a handful, of his same clean herd cows. He will continue to be offered for sale, till sold.
