Description

Vintage 1950s Green Bustling Betty Kraft Swanky Swig Juice Glass

This charming little juice glass is known as a Swanky Swig, introduced by Kraft in the 1930s as a container for their line of spreadable cheeses. This pattern is Bustling Betty, first introduced in 1953. The jars had metal snap lids, and were hand decorated, although production of the jars was suspended from 1941 to 1946 due to a World War II paint shortage. After the war, production resumed, and Swanky Swigs were made until 1976. Although not marked, Swanky Swigs were made in the U.S. by the Hazel Atlas Company through the 1950s.

This Bustling Betty in green depicts the family at the dinner table with Betty bustling in with the tea pot. The glass measures 3-5/8" tall and just a hair over 2" in diameter. It is in excellent condition with no fogging to the glass. The paint is bright and intact. There is a manufacturer's flaw in the paint at the edge of Betty's apron.

Swanky Swigs are a fun kitchen collectible, and kids love to have their morning or afternoon juice in them. What a wonderful stocking stuffer!
