Unusual Vintage China Green Parrot Bird Figurine Japan

This is an odd little bird figurine! The entire piece (which I think is a parrot) is made from a single mold, and then painted ... probably some kind of spray paint application. For the most part, only the front side is painted. That side has some brown detail on the perch and on the wings of the bird, along with some pink around the eye and a bit of red on the bird's foot and beak. The back of the figurine has some green paint, but no detail. At the back bottom edge of the piece, the word "JAPAN" is impressed into the china.

Definitely an odd-looking little piece ... a conversation starter! The figurine stands approximately 3-3/4" tall; it is 2-1/8" wide and is just 1" deep. The piece is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or flea bites.

I believe this piece dates to the 1950s or perhaps the 1960s -- the perfect gift for the retro collector!
