1. CYCLOP USES QUALITY PARTS

Only the best, top quality parts are used in all Taylor Fence chargers as you can see on the boards shown here. The circuit boards have been designed with lightning resistance in Circuit Board Components 
mind.  The circuit board traces have been made broader, thicker, and spaced farther apart.  This helps to reduce the number of lightning related failures.

CIRCUIT BOARD TRACES
One fourth of the parts on the circuit boards are for lightning suppression. However, since no circuit can be made lightning proof, we have designed our circuits so that any part that should fail will not cause a chain reaction of parts to fail. This results in a much lower cost of repair when needed.
The heart and lungs of a fence charger are the Output Transformer and the Storage Capacitor. The quality and capacity of these two elements determine how a fence charger performs.  Just look at the size and weight of the output transformer used in the Taylor Fence chargers.
Heavy Duty Transformer
OUTPUT TRANSFORMER
You can feel this heavy duty transformer when you lift the Taylor Fence chargers. This transformer has more copper and steel than any other charger costing twice as much. This extra copper and steel combine to give more power output to the fence along with better lightning resistance.  It is wound with HEAVY ARMORED wire and 11,000 V insulation between layers. It also has 8,000 V insulation on the lead wires.
Pulse Storage Capacitors
STORAGE CAPACITORS
The Storage capacitors used in all Taylor Fence chargers are the best available in the world and are one of the few parts that are imported. This is the storage tank for the powerful pulse that is transmitted to the fence through the heavy duty transformer above. These Capacitors are rated 50% stronger than their operating load, which ensures longer life and better reliability.

2. LIGHTNING RESISTANT
The lightning protection components (M.O.V.'s) used in all TAYLOR FENCE chargers are able to bypass 4500 Amps around the fence charger to ground.Lightning Protection
There are 8 of these parts on the output board protecting the fence side and 4 more on the power board protecting from hits on the power line. These parts operate during a lightning strike and then restore, ready for the next hit. Although these parts cannot prevent all lightning damage, they can operate thousands of times preventing many failures that would knock out chargers without this protection.
 

3. FENCE LOAD DETECTOR

The fence load indicator tells you at a glance the condition of the fence and the load on the fence charger. This circuit was designed to indicate three different conditions.
Fence Load Detector

If the light is flashing every click(Regular Flash), then the fence is O.K. and the voltage to the fence is over 4,000 volts. If the light is flashing less than every click (intermittent flash) then the fence is loaded and the voltage to the fence is between 3,000 and 4,000 volts. When the charger is clicking and the light does not flash at all (No Flash) then the fence is shorted and the voltage to the fence is below 3,000 volts. You only need one glance at the Fence Load Indicator  to know the condition of the fence and the output of the fence charger.

4. HOLDING POWER
The output power from all fence chargers is the product of three items. The output Voltage,  the output Current and the Pulse width (On Time). Increasing any one of these while the other two remain the same will increase the output power. Two fence chargers with the same output voltage and fence load (current) could have a great difference in the output power because the pulse width (on time) of one is much longer than the other. It is the output POWER that puts the hurt on the fence and keeps the animals in or out.
All Taylor Fence chargers are Low impedance, with High Power output, Lightning Resistance and Fence Load Indicators. Power differences between the Taylor Fence models are a result of both voltage and pulse width changes.
