This is an unusual, very old, antique blacksmith U.S. Shear metal shear, in good working condition. The gears have been re-welded at some point.
NOTICE- To hopefully be more clear - this was used enough that the teeth on the gears were built up again by welding - the actual gears were not broken and welded .
It is made by St. Anthony Iron Works, Minneapolis, MN. It is stamped No. 1 on one side, and No. 2 on the other - possibly part numbers?
This piece would be an excellent addition to an historical museum, or for a private collector interested in preserving blacksmith history.

*Check my other auctions, as I will be listing more of my private collection of 30+ years - it would be a worthwhile trip for anyone wanting to add to a collection, or museum display. I am also listing a blacksmith trip hammer/power hammer, punch, wheel shrinker, line shaft driven disc roller, and forge blower.
