Description

German K98 rifle, marked “BCD 4”, produced in the Gustloff factory in 1944. The receiver ring is stamped with an eagle (+number) over "bcd/4". The rear portion of the barrel is marked with the Gustloff firing proof next to "avk Bi", next to an "eagle/13" proof followed by a small asterisk; stamped and unnumbered front barrel bands, trigger guard and floor plate. It has an earlier style bolt body that retained the guide rib which is stamped with a single number "1" on the underside of the bolt handle with the top of the bolt stamped with a number. The barrel has a post front sight with tangent rear sight to 2,000 meters. Believe it’s a laminated stock and handguard, right has a partial "eagle/H" proof below the stock washer and a very faint, single "C" proof on the lower underside area. An example of a Gustloff-Werke with the bcd/4 code is listed in the Blue Book of gun values the only year they used one number instead of two. It is listed under K98k (KARBINE).
