Description

The Ellis County Ham Operators ( E.C.H.O. ) amateur radio club will be holding a tailgate swap meet in conjunction with their annual Field Day on June 22 2019 at old Fort Hays.   The swap meet will start at 10 a.m. and will go throughout the day.  Any amateur radio operators are invited to attend as is the public.  If you have some radio equipment you want to get rid of or are maybe picking up something , come on out and see what might work for you.

In addition to the Field Day and swap meet, we will be offering testing for anyone interested in getting their amateur license.  There is a $15.00 fee to cover the processing of testing.

What is Field Day?  It’s a yearly event held in June that amateur radio operators participate in to hone their radio skills.  Amateur radio operators around the country set up stations in field conditions, using many different types of antennas ranging from a simple wire antenna to vertical single element designs and even multi element beam antennas.  Power sources range from solar panels and batteries to generators even wind powered stations.   The goal is to attempt to make as many contacts with others using that field station.  It is always a learning experience for the participants and everyone has fun in the process.   The general public is encouraged and welcome to attend.  If you have an interest in becoming an amateur radio operator and have questions or are needing help, we are here for you.

Hope to see you there.
