This is a "factory second" Gold Tone OT800 Long Neck Open Back banjo with Gold Tone hard case. Both the case and the bajo are "factory seconds" otherwise in as new condition. ;-) The case has a few scuffs and one hinge is broken but there is an interior strap at each hing point which keeps the case top in place when opened. The banjo has a few flaws as well, thus factory second. The fretboard edge banding is blistered in a few spots and from the nut to the first fret the top edge banding actually melted and is a little deformed. This could be easily sanded and smoothed up to look a lot nicer than it is but I just never took the time to do so. There is some discoloration in some of the inlays as well. It looks like their iron got a little hot but these defects do not interfere in the playability and are only cosmetic. The cover for the truss rod does not fit tight against the nut but is rather cut at a bit of an angle which once again is cosmetic. Other than that its a Gold Tone OT800 tubaphone banjo in every way and a long neck version to boot.
I always wanted a long neck OT800 but it did not take me long to realize the long neck was not for me. I kept the banjo and toyed with the idea to convert it to a standard neck but I have several Deering open back banjos with standard necks so I just never saw spending the money.
I also have a Gold Tone BG-150 with case listed as well as a new Seagull 12 string guitar.
