I have two clocks I made from a John Deere A tractor. The piston and connecting rod were separated and powder coated by me in my shop. Powder coating is far superior to spray paint, in finish and durability. The bases have felt attached to protect your shelf or table.
It took me over 4 years of search to find the pistons and rods to make these. Apparently, they are pretty rare; people seem to keep using them after freeing stuck engines. I doubt I will ever find more.
When I was young my family and all the neighbors ran Johnnie Pop tractors to do their farming. I feel like a kid again when I hear one run! In the 60s farmers went with 6-cylinder tractors, and these antique 2-cylinder's became popular almost immediately among collectors. So they are about 70 years old now and part of a bygone era.
