KDOT is currently hiring an Equipment Operator or Equipment Operator Trainee in Smith Center. Duties include highway maintenance and repairs, snow and ice removal, mowing, weed eating and flagging. The Equipment Operator position requires a Class A CDL with air brake option at the time of hire. Those without a Class A CDL may qualify as an Equipment Operator Trainee and receive on-the-job training to obtain a CDL within 90 days. Starting pay for Equipment Operator is $14.34/ hour and Equipment Operator Trainee is $13.63/hour. Positions are subject to pre-employment testing. Benefits include health, vision and dental insurance, KPERS retirement, paid vacation and sick leave, and an annual personal protection equipment allowance.
