 DIRECTOR OF TRAINING:

***This position will office out of our Overland Park, KS office or our corporate office in Norton, KS***

 Valley Hope is in search of an experienced professional to join our team in the role of the Director of Training.

JOB SUMMARY:

  • Assesses company-wide developmental needs to drive training initiatives; identifies and develops suitable training and development programs to align with the business strategy.
  • Works closely with executive leadership and senior management to align training goals and priorities with overall company goals and initiatives.
  • Research training methods and best practices; incorporates information into training, programs, solutions, and materials.
  • Designs and implements effective training programs and strategies to educate employees and to enhance employee development and performance.
  • Assesses and/or understands the skill level, knowledge, and training needs of different employee groups; incorporates information into the development of learning strategies which are accessible and meet the needs of employees.
  • Develops and/or obtains effective training materials utilizing a variety of media; ensures learning materials are relevant and uses tactics that inspire learning and engagement.
  • Partners with members of Professional Services in the development and delivery of training programs that requires specialized knowledge.
  • Collaborates with leadership/senior management/market leaders to organize and deliver training programs; utilizes a mix of training techniques including but not limited to classroom training, on-the-job training, workshops, online training courses, and lectures.
  • Conducts follow-up assessments of completed training to evaluate and measure results.
  • Identifies overall training budget needs and monitors spending to allocated costs.
  • Conducts audits/assessments and updates of existing training programs to ensure they meet the needs of the organization; includes but is not limited to general orientation and department orientation.   
  • Evaluates and identifies training-related service partners; manages relationships and service level agreements with training partners/third-party content providers. 
  • Partners with Human Resources in the use of learning management systems in support of training programs.
  • Develops and fosters a continuous learning culture.  
  • Maintains a strong working knowledge of trends, developments, and best practices within areas of employee learning, training, and development.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with preference in areas of Human Resources, Learning and Development, or Organizational Psychology 
  • Preferred training certifications:  Certified Professional in Training Management (CPTM), Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP).
  • SHRM-Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) or SHRM-Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) preferred.
  • Five (5) plus years of work experience in training and development; Seven (7) plus years preferred 
  • Four (4) plus years of managerial-level experience.
  • Work experience in healthcare industry and/or within the substance abuse treatment industry.

 

SKILLS & ABILITIES:  

  • Ability to design and deliver training, manage the learning function, measure and evaluate the results of training, and manage organizational knowledge
  • Demonstrated knowledge of how to use learning management systems, learning applications/software, and tools that integrate various training materials.
  • Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills; demonstrated ability to speak effectively with peers, employees, and leadership.  
  • Self-directed and motivated to accomplish tasks, meet objectives and committed timelines; able to prioritize competing demands and effectively manage multiple tasks.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications, which include Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:  

  • Must be able to travel – estimated at 15-25% of the time.
  • Office setting with traditional hours.
  • Sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to work at a rapid pace for long periods of time (typically not longer than 8 hours).
