Position Specifics:

Department:  Parts

Reports to: Store Manager and Corporate Parts Manager

Supervises: Parts Counter Salespersons and other Parts Staff

Purpose:
Manages parts operations within the dealership to provide the highest level of external and internal customer satisfaction while maximizing ROI through parts sales, inventory control, and expense control; optimizes parts department processes; attracts, retains, and effectively engages department personnel.

Responsibilities:

Build an organization by establishing department policies and procedures by:
Developing the skills and knowledge of all parts department personnel.
Fully utilizing the automated inventory control system.
Ensuring internal and external customer satisfaction.

Develop Sales and Gross Profits by:
Establishing realistic sales objectives by category.
Merchandising effectively and within budget.
Establishing a competitive parts policy while maximizing grosses.
Promoting and merchandises parts and accessories in conjunction with other store locations.
Maximizing use of all order discount programs to achieve management stock order goals.

Develop Parts Department Personnel by:
Ensuring that all employees have a thorough understanding of their duties and responsibilities.
Providing programs to ensure the productivity of each employee.
Ensuring all department tools, equipment and vehicles are in good working order.
Managing recruiting, staffing and employment development activities for employees reporting to this position.

Helps develop and execute annual Parts Department goals and budget, in alignment with the organization’s financial and operation objectives.

Maintains an accurate and effective parts inventory control system that includes a perpetual and/or physical inventory and proper counter procedures.

Submits all parts warranty and return claims within the required time frame to receive maximum credit.

Perform related and other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications

Experience, Education, Skills and Knowledge:

  • 2+ years of experience in Parts Department operations.
  • Experience leading others.
  • Ability to use standard desktop functions such as Microsoft Office and internet functions.
  • Experience with the Equip Business System preferred.
  • Ability to write and speak effectively to individuals and groups.
  • Basic understanding of financial principles relative to Parts Department operations.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret internal reports.
  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
