Description
Purpose:
Wait on customers and technicians, as assigned, and solicit sales; charge out merchandise; distribute special order parts; receive warranty parts; maintain shelf stock; keep counter clean and neat; handle inbound and outbound freight.
Responsibilities:
Wait on customers by:
Properly identifying needed items using parts catalogs or microfiche
Attempting sales of additional needed or related parts or accessories
Locating and obtaining merchandise, if it is a “stocked” item
Filling customer’s want for “out-of-stock” or “non-stocked” merchandise
Making certain that the technician or customer receives the proper part on time, as promised
Properly tracking lost sales
Charge out merchandise by:
Looking up current prices by part number
Completing required documents before disbursing parts
Entering all necessary information in inventory control systems records
Distribute special order parts by:
Recording and entering special orders
Following through to installation or delivery to customer
Maintain shelf stock by:
Returning all unsold merchandise to stock
Noting discrepancies between inventory records and shelf quantities
Receive warranty parts by:
Ensuring that defective merchandise is properly tagged with date and correct numbers
Placing material in warranty parts bin area as required
Keep counters clean and neat by:
Keeping counter tops and the areas behind/under counter clean, clear of parts and/or debris
Maintaining displays in counter area, as required
Performing housekeeping duties in counter areas as required
Handle inbound and outbound freight
Perform related or other tasks, as assigned
Qualifications
Experience, Education, Skills and Knowledge:
Basic data entry/keyboarding skills
Basic parts and machinery knowledge
Ability to use the John Deere Parts Catalog computer application
Ability to work in a team environment
Ability to lift items weighing up to 75 lbs.
High School Diploma or equivalent experience
