Equipment Operator and Truck Driver Job Description

Hineman Farms, located in Dighton, KS, is a Kansas based company that has been family owned for five generations.  The 15,000 acre farm produces wheat, sorghum, and corn while also rotationally grazing 3,000 acres of grass.  Hineman Farms believes in no-till farming and sustainability practices to increase yields and profitability on every acres it manages.

The company will rely on the Machine Operator to assist with all daily functions of an operating farm including but not limited to the following:  

RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:

  • Hauling manure from feed yards to stockpile
  • Spreading manure on fields
  • Serve as the primary person responsible for spreading manure
  • Daily reporting of field operations or hauling to supervisor
  • Daily support and machine operations including but not limited to planting, spraying, harvesting, fertilizing, truck driving and more
  • Provide assistance with equipment maintenance, service, and cleaning
  • Management of grain storage facility, grain handling, and commodity hauling
  • Harvest crew support and machine operations, requiring long hours
  • Minor construction projects
  • Occasional livestock management including cattle supervision and fence fixing/building.
  • Other duties as assigned

Other skill requirements for this position include:

  • CDL or class A farm driver’s license or the ability to acquire CDL within 30 days.
  • Clean driving record
  • The ability to work independently with little direction
  • Ability to work outdoors, occasionally in adverse conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs and to bend, stoop, kneel and traverse uneven ground regularly
  • Ability to work additional hours to meet business demands
  • Excellent oral/written communications skills and good problem solving skills
  • The ability to work independently with little direction
  • Basic familiarity with agricultural equipment such as tractors, planters, fertilizer applicators, sprayers, tillage tools etc. is preferred. Candidate may be required to drive a truck pulling a trailer or other equipment, as well as operate an ATV and spray equipment.
