Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing and Director of Dental Hygiene, the Administrative Assistant for Health Sciences is responsible for assisting in the daily operations of the Health Sciences building.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Administrative Assistant for Health Sciences fosters communication among students, faculty and both nursing campuses and performs administrative tasks as directed. This position is 40 hours a week from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

Additional responsibilities: 

  • CNA/CMA testing coordinator.
  • Perform basic clerical work, including typing meeting minutes, maintaining office supplies, dispersing daily mail, and managing calendars for multiple departments.
  • Assist with recruiting prospective students and process Dental Hygiene and Nursing admissions applications.
  • Orders and maintains an inventory of lab supplies and work orders for equipment help.
  • Coordinate Fall and Spring Advisory committee meetings.
  • Maintain records for Dental Hygiene and Nursing students.
  • Administer follow-up to all Dental Hygiene and Nursing graduates and employers, including clinical contracts and communication.
  • Revise syllabi as directed.
  • Facilitate arrangements for departmental purchases and travel.
  • Respond to written communication as directed.
  • Proctor exams as needed.
  • Assist with orientation and other mandatory information sessions.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate degree required; bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience in an administrative office environment preferred.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

  • Strong leadership, verbal, written, organizational, administrative, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations of students, staff, faculty and external constituencies.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Computer literacy skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office required.

SALARY

$13.00-$15.00 per hour

Flexible benefits program, which includes options for single and family health and dental coverage, life insurance, reimbursement accounts, sick leave, vacation leave, and 21 days of holiday day. Participation in the state retirement program is required.
