Thomas County Sheriff’s Office is hiring Detention Deputies for our brand new, state-of-the-art 64-bed jail facility in Colby, Kansas. This is an exciting opportunity to join a professional, team-oriented environment with competitive pay, benefits, and growth opportunities in public safety.

Job Responsibilities:

• Supervise inmates and maintain safety and order within the facility

• Conduct head counts, security checks, and inmate searches

• Monitor inmate behavior and respond to incidents as needed

• Assist in booking, releasing, and transportation of inmates

• Complete reports and maintain documentation in accordance with policy

• Work effectively with law enforcement, medical staff, and court personnel

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years of age

• High school diploma or GED required

• Valid driver’s license

• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening

• Strong communication and problem-solving skills

• Willingness to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
