Description

Norton County Hospital has a full time employment opportunity for an Accounting Specialist.  This position is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Primary responsibilities include preparing, analyzing and maintaining financial records and providing financial support functions to the CFO.  This position will also have responsibilities in accounts payable processing. 

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

Accounts Payable

  • Process invoices and payables including data entry, scanning, review, print checks and post to general ledger
  • Process accounts payable weekly check runs, electronic funds transfer entries and other on-demand payments
  • Month end process including reviewing vendor statements and working with supervisors and vendors to make sure accounts are current
  • Month end closing each period by CFO deadline
  • Process invoices/payments to IRS 1099 contract services
  • Process IRS 1099 tax forms after the end of the calendar year and submit to IRS and State of Kansas

Accounting

  • Verify and post details of business transactions, such as funds received and disbursed, and account totals to ledgers or computer spreadsheets and databases
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts with various registers
  • Reconcile report discrepancies and problems
  • Extract general ledger information and compile reports
  • Reconcile bank statements
  • Prepare monthly detailed expense reports for managers
  • Review, balance, and interpret computer reports, and make corrections
  • Recordkeeping of all facility contracts
  • Maintain fixed asset system records

Applicants must have strong computer skills, math and balancing skills, and ability to learn the Hospital software.  Post-secondary education related to accounting, business or related work experience in healthcare preferred.
