The City of Norton is accepting applications for the position of Apprentice Lineperson in the Electric Department.  Under the supervision of the supervisor or lineman this is the beginning level for training in the duties of line maintenance; performs the more complex and hazardous lineman duties only under close supervision.

Education & Experience:

Any combination of training and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and minimum of 1 year experience in electric line construction and maintenance.  A qualified lineman's school diploma would be considered in lieu of one year's experience.  Possession of a Kansas Drivers License.

Pay & Benefits:

Pay starting at $24.18/hour with a salary advancement every six months after completing 1,000 hours of work and passing testing requirements for the next level of advancement.  Upon successful completion of entire apprenticeship hours of experience and passing all certification testing, apprentice employee may be promoted to journeyman position.  The city has a robust benefits package including healthcare.
