Norton County Hospital has a full-time career opportunity for an RN-Trauma Program Coordinator to join our healthcare team.  Norton County Hospital is a 25-bed critical access hospital and Level IV trauma center.  This position would work part of the scheduled hours performing the Trauma Program Coordinator duties and the rest of the schedule working 12-hour shifts in Med/Surg/ER.  This position would be including in the rotating weekend and holiday schedule and will work with acute, skilled and intermediate levels of patient care, and Emergency Room. 

Trauma Program Coordinator responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Create/maintain policies and procedures for treatment and evaluation of trauma patients
  • Assist with the education of emergency department staff on skills and procedures
  • Ensure emergency department equipment is of current standard and functionality
  • Manage and maintain a community injury prevention program
  • Keep informed of state and federal regulations to maintain compliance
  • Act as the registrar for the State Trauma Registry
  • Develop and monitor the PIPS program in junction with the Trauma Medical Director
  • Hold quarterly Trauma Program meetings
  • EMS liaison
  • Attend local, regional, and state meetings, conferences, and workshops
  • Responds to needs during weekend, night, and holiday shifts

 Qualifications:

  • Current RN license in the State of Kansas; prefer BSN
  • TNCC certification
  • 3 years of work experience in an emergency department preferred
  • Actively work as staff nurse in emergency department
