The City of Russell is seeking professional and community oriented individuals for a full-time Power Plant Relief Operator/Mechanic position.

Under the supervision of the Electric Production Superintendent, the Power Plant Relief Operator/Mechanic performs work related to the electric power plant equipment, gas turbines, reciprocating engines, auxiliary equipment, building, and grounds. The employee in this position is responsible for maintaining continuous operation of the generating units in the various locations of the City’s generating plants, monitoring the City’s connection with other electric utility systems, and delivering the necessary electrical power to the City’s electrical system. The employee is expected to select the appropriate combination of prime movers and related auxiliary equipment to produce electrical energy. The employee is also expected to monitor equipment operations hourly for any possible malfunctions and to take corrective action should malfunction occur.

Applicants must possess a high school diploma or G.E.D and have a valid Driver’s License. Applicants must establish residency in Russell County within 6 months of hire date. Pre-employment drug screening and job placement assessment are required.
