Description

Norton County Hospital, a Critical Access Hospital with a Rural Health Clinic serving patients in northwest Kansas and southwest Nebraska, is seeking a dynamic individual to lead the delivery of high quality patient care, while managing the financial sustainability of the organization. The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) serves the Norton County Hospital and Norton Medical Clinic by providing strategic leadership and financial oversight and direction.  The CEO is also responsible for working with the Board of Trustees and the Leadership team to establish long-range goals, strategies, plans and policies. 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Ultimately responsible for ensuring organizational compliance with regulations, laws, procedures and policies. 

  • Ensures that quality and patient safety is a top priority at every level in the organization.
  • Responsible for oversight for financial discipline and the importance of financial balance to achieve the mission and vision.
  • Develops and maintains effective relationships with physicians employed by and associated with the organization.
  • Collaborates with community leaders to assess the health needs of the community and design programs and services to maximize resources to address those needs.
  • Develops, communicates and leads the implementation of the strategic plan in a manner consistent with the organization’s mission, vision and values.
  • Ensures a positive working relationship with the Board founded on honesty, trust and collaboration.
  • Sets an organizational tone that attracts, retains, motivates and develops a highly qualified workforce.
  • Maintains an open, honest, trusting and collaborative relationship with senior leaders and develops future leaders within the organization.
  • Represents and promotes the interests and image of the organization to the government, accrediting bodies, prospective donors, the media and the community at large.
  • Embraces the transformation occurring in health care delivery and financing and thinks innovatively.
  • Keeps a constant pulse on shifts and trends in the health care, political, social and technological environment.
  • Committed to continually improving personal leadership performance.
  • Establishes a unifying vision and culture across the organization.
  • Seeks partnerships that help achieve the organization’s mission and vision and improve community health.
  • Maintains open lines of communication and a strong rapport and professional working relationships at all levels.
  • Combines strong ethical judgment with technical and management skills and exhibits values of fairness, honesty and compassion.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by the Board.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Hospital Administration, Business Administration or a health care related field with three (3) to five (5) years of executive level leadership in health care preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field with ten (10) years of senior management experience (Departmental Director or above), five (5) of which are as a top level executive in health care (Vice President or above).
  • Extensive professional and technical knowledge of health care delivery systems, Hospital Management and related areas.
  • Knowledge of marketing, strategic and financial planning, quality, change management and risk assessment.
  • Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective interpersonal relationships with all levels of management, physicians, employees, governing board, business, government, community officials and the general public.
