JEM Farms has 20 weaned calves weighing 185 pound to 265 pounds. 8 weeks of age. The crossbred calves there are two bulls and one heifer (they are 95% black). There is One angus heifer. There are 16 weaned Holstein bull calves that have been poured, vaccinated with enroflux, Bose, and two rounds of Inforce 3 (one at birth and one at weaning). They are also all dehorned. All they need is to be banded and given a shot of tetanus when this is done. They are ready for grass!  They were not a no raised on the dairy. They have been easier off 25/25 milk replacer on Automatic feeders along with a dairy grade feed ration of feed that included no forage. They were kept in shavings in a large pen under a shed. This is the first time they have been exposed to grass and any forage. Research has shown to get the best rumen develop in dairy breed cattle, you offer higher amounts of protein in milk and grain for the first 6/8 weeks of life and then introduce forage. It increase their ability to turn protein into fat and grow extremely faster and better than if you did offer forage. This is currently the program I have for all my dairy babies. I did have some extra fly tags laying around that was left over from working our personal cattle and I did throw 7 or 8 of them in for the calves that did have a good hole already in their ear. This is a good set of calves that can be turned out on grass now. They have transitioned well and are eating alfalfa and rationed grain that is high in protein. Hard to find these on the market these days! Will not be offering anymore for the rest of the year as well so once a year opportunity! If you buy a baby now for 100 (a Holstein) put eight weeks of time and effort into them including vaccinations and 150 dollars worth of milk along with grain you are far ahead of that with these guys!  If you need help with delivery I will deliver for a discount price and even FREE within 45 miles of Lindsborg Kansas!!
