Hiring one full time position, Monday - Friday, 8 am - 4 pm. Position responsible for picking up clients in Colby and traveling to Atwood for day services then returning them home at the end of the day, Monday - Friday, 8:00 - 4:00(agency vehicle provided).

Applicants would responsible for assisting individuals served in the development of personal, social, and communication skills. This is accomplished through group or individualized instruction conducted in the community and/or the developmental center. 

$1,000 Sign On Bonus, Starting wage $16.00!

The treatment of individuals served with dignity and respect is a prime responsibility.

Essential Functions

Follow all Teaching Plans, Behavior Management Plans and Service Agreement recommendations as defined by the Life Planning Team and record data in Therap or otherwise as required.

Become familiar with and implement the service agreement and risk management plans for each individual served.

Practice, monitor and ensure quality teaching of skills to persons served to include but not be limited to recognizing opportunities to teach, providing rationales, offering positive reinforcement and encouraging decision making skills by each individual.

Provide assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) to include support and supervision during meal times, class times and transportation etc.

Attend initial and ongoing training in a timely manner to meet the needs of individuals served and meetings as requested by the supervisor.

Report health, safety, licensing and abuse/neglect/exploitation (ANE) issues to appropriate personnel per agency policy.

Represent the College for Living at Life Planning meetings as deemed appropriate by the Day Coordinator.

As necessary, implement crisis intervention strategies including physical restraint, lifting and transferring of persons served, according to agency policy.

Promote community inclusion for desired functions and activities of individuals served.

Represent agency with professionalism and advocate for individuals served at all times.

Ensure individuals served are treated with dignity and respect to include using a respectful tone, giving full consideration and attention to each person served and providing opportunities and options that promote independence.

Complete all daily paperwork and documentation in a timely manner.

Provide transportation of individuals served in agency vehicles as needed.

Report any property and vehicle maintenance issues to the supervisor and appropriate DSNWK personnel as per policy.

Develop and/or follow all lesson plans and teaching objectives as outlined by the Day Coordinator.

Research curriculum as assigned by the Day Coordinator.

Administer assessments as deemed necessary by the Day Coordinator.

Familiarize self with the rights of individuals served and ensure these rights are maintained at all times through appropriate verbal and physical interactions.

If applicable to the paraprofessional position, ensure Lab Experiences are completed on a regular basis.

Conduct classes with meaningful learning experiences.

HIPAA Compliance

 

This position is responsible for maintaining confidentiality for all PHI and ePHI that is shared with them. They will have access to all PHI and ePHI for individuals whom they support as a member of their Life Plan Team or for whom they provide back-up services or on-call supports.

Other Responsibilities

 

If applicable, upon certification as a medication aide, or upon completion of DSNWK medication administration training, administer medications according to agency policy when needed.

Complete other duties as assigned by the Day Coordinator (ie. mentoring new staff on job responsibilities, participation in the on-call rotation, coordination of special events, etc.

This position is subject to the two year training period as defined by KPERS, unless exceptions are granted due to prior employment.

Job Specifications

Education - High School diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience - Prior personal or job related exposure to people with developmental disabilities is preferred.

Extent of physical effort required - Routine job requirements. Frequent physical intervention (i.e. assisted or unassisted lifting and transferring; physical restraint). Must be able to lift 50 lbs. unassisted.

Comments: Physical requirements:  must be physically able to evacuate individuals served in the event of an emergency and be able to apply necessary behavior management techniques as directed by each individual's Life Plan. Position may have other physical requirements for specific work sites, i.e. climbing stairs, extended periods of standing, etc.

Other Requirements

Valid driver's license.

Desire to work with individuals with developmental disabilities.

Able to exercise good judgment and discretion in handling confidential information.

Must complete shadow training upon employment.
