SUMMARY
The Safety Support Specialist reports directly to the Safety Director. As the Safety Support Specialist you are responsible for serving as support staff to the Safety Director and Assistant Safety Director. You will work to ensure safety is a top priority for the company through research and training. As you learn all about safety you will be an example of how safety is of the utmost importance at GCC. Attention to detail, adaptability, managing time, organization skills, being reliable, maintaining positivity through stressful times and being able to take initiative are very important when it comes to this role.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Perform general clerical duties including, but not limited to, copying, mailing, filing, etc
· Create and modify documents and forms using Microsoft Office
· Maintain Safety related sites
· Update and review company safety policies to maintain accuracy and applicability
· Learn and assist in coordinating safety-related meetings and training sessions
· Gain knowledge and research to develop a variety of safety trainings
· Assist in training employees on relevant safety topics
· Learn and help maintain employee training records
· Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
· Proficient use of Microsoft Office
· Attention to detail and maintaining accuracy
· Manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, set goals, and develop systems for achieving those goals
· Ability to speak in front of a wide range of group sizes
· Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
· Ability to multi-task with projects
· Ability to function effectively in highly adaptive environment and show flexibility
· Basic understanding of and willingness to embrace technology, including but not limited to desktop, iPad, tablet, cell phone
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
· Attend safety training classes and educational seminars to enable candidate to audit and modify current policies, procedures, and forms. Includes in-house training as well as off-site training. (Some daily travel to and from locations may be required.)
WORKING CONDITIONS
· Occasional exposure to hot and cold climates
· Occasional exposure to dusty environments and hazardous materials (infrequent)
