Description

This 2017 Ducati 1299 Superleggera is said to be the last twin-cylinder Superleggera to leave the factory and is a non-serialized model that bears an inscribed production number of XXX/500.  This specific example was outfitted from the factory with gloss carbon fiber bodywork, instead of the 1299 Superleggera’s traditional Rosso Corsa colorway. Power is from a 1,285cc Superquadro L-twin paired with a six-speed transmission with the Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) system. Features include an Öhlins adjustable suspension, an Akrapovič titanium race exhaust system, the Ducati Data Analyser+ GPS system, a six-axis Bosch inertial measurement unit (IMU), and a suite of ride modes and rider aids. The 1299 Superleggera was the first factory-built street motorcycle to feature carbon-fiber construction for the frame, rear subframe, swingarm, and wheels. Additionally, the carbon-fiber fairings are finished in gloss clear-coat paint while the aluminum fuel tank has a brushed finish. A silver stripe accents the side fairings and the bike is equipped with fairing-mounted mirrors. The Akrapovič titanium race exhaust system is currently installed, and the street exhaust system is included in the sale.

The 17inch split-spoke wheels are made of carbon fiber with aluminum hub inserts and are mounted with Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP tires measuring 120/70 front and 200/55 rear. The Bosch six-axis IMU provides cornering anti-lock braking capability, and stopping power is provided by dual 330mm discs with Brembo Monobloc Evo M50 four-piston calipers up front and a single 245mm disc with a two-piston caliper at the rear. The fully-adjustable Öhlins suspension features a 43mm FL936 inverted fork assembly with a steering damper as well as a TTX36 monoshock that is equipped with a titanium spring and is connected to the carbon-fiber single-sided swingarm via a bell crank assembly with an adjustable linkage.

The top triple clamp is laser inscribed with the model name and production number, and the bike is equipped with the Ducati Data Analyser+ GPS system. An LCD screen features a tachometer with a 12k-rpm redline and a digital speedometer as well as integrated controls for the riding modes, traction control, Ducati Slide Control, wheelie control, engine braking control, and cornering ABS. The odometer indicates 1,100 miles.

The 1,285cc Superquadro L-twin features four desmodromic valves per cylinder along with a sand-cast crankcase, a lightened crankshaft and flywheel, high-compression pistons, aluminum cylinder liners, titanium valves and connecting rods, and hand-set valve timing. Factory-rated output was 215 horsepower and 108 lb-ft of torque.

The six-speed transmission features the Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) system, and power is sent to the rear wheel through a clutch with a hydraulically controlled slip-assist system. Final drive consists of a chain mounted over a 15-tooth sprocket up front and a 39-tooth sprocket at the rear.

The factory front, side and rear stands, the DDS map key, manufacturer’s literature, and a bike cover are included in the sale. The titanium street exhaust, a taller race windscreen, a carbon-fiber under-tray, and the associated fasteners and hardware stow in a factory black box.
