The Ellis County Public Works Department is hiring a full-time Mechanic.

Currently running Summer schedule of Monday - Thursday 7:00 am - 5:30 pm. Winter schedule is Monday - Friday 7:00 am - 3:30 pm.  No nights, weekends, or holidays (unless declared disaster or weather event).

Pay Range - Mechanic I:  $21.73-$31.31/hr + opportunity for a step/pay advancement after 6 months. 

Pay Range - Mechanic II:  $24.00-$37.93/hr + opportunity for a step/pay advancement after 6 months. 

This position performs skilled and semi-skilled mechanical and electrical work on small and heavy equipment, and vehicles assigned to the Ellis County Public Works Department.

Position Requirements Mechanic I:

1. High school diploma or other equivalent
2. Mechanic experience preferred
3. Valid driver's license

Position Requirements Mechanic II:

1. High school diploma or other equivalent
2. Three years of mechanic/repair technician experience
3. Valid Class B commercial driver’s license with tanker endorsement within 6 months of employment
