This is a full body that was inspired by the Porsche 917 Race Car that dominated during the early 70's. Until they finally out-ruled it, but that is another story…
This body was made by Elite Industries in Minnesota about the mid-70’s. There were 2 basic models built, the ‘A’ and ‘B’ model and than a slight redesign the ‘C’ and ‘D’ models. This body is a later ‘A’ model with the optional opening side door windows.
Of all models only around 500 were made. The bodies were numbered but this one’s tag is missing.
Picture of back end, note big square hole in the tunnel area. Story is someone had a V-6 in it. I would reglass that. Just forward of that is the fuel tank opening, they are normally rusted by now and needs removed.
The BAD news is the windshield got broken.
The GOOD news is they are findable, they are the windshield from any year Opel GT . Also by way of the 917 Owners club on FB we can now get new ones.
Also new headlight covers and door plastic windows are available.
I really like these bodies and our first one we built had a Porsche 911-T air cooled flat 6. It was a ROCKET … Sadly we lost it to a fire. We have had a couple more since and have a body in the shop to repair and refurbish now, so I know I won’t have time to do anything with this one till next year. So I will just leave it on the trailer till it goes in the shop to be repaired or sold.
Price is a firm, $2500 and includes the trailer !
