Description

Restored 1918 Remington UMC (Union Metallic Cartridge) 1911, one of only 21,677 produced between 1918-1919.  The grip checkering pattern is slightly different from Colt’s, and the magazine toe plate is slightly shorter.  The markings are E.E.C. ordnance mark is for Edmund E. Chapman. Major Ordnance Reserve Corps and is only present on the Remington UMC manufactured pistols.  Early production pistols have the E inspector stamp on left side trigger guard, bottom of main spring housing.  Also present is the Eagle E28 stamp above the mag release.  The left side of the slide is marked with the Colt patent dates and Remington UMC logo and manufactured by Remington Arms UMC Co. Inc/Bridgeport, Conn. U.S.A.  AA stamp is present on the left side of the frame and right trigger bow.  This is the Augusta Arsenal Stamp where at some point it was reworked.  The barrel has no markings that can be seen and may be a replacement.  It has walnut grips which appear to be original to the pistol with 13 rows of checkering between the diamonds.  This pistol has not been fired since it was restored.  It is probably one of the nicest 1911 UMC pistols in the country.  More pictures available.
